Friday, January 19th

Today:

  • Students took their grammar and spelling test.
  • We finished Chapter 7 of the Secret Garden, and it seems the kids are really enjoying the story!

Next Week:
  • Science: We will begin working on our plant unit this week and do some cool experiments with carnations and celery.
  • History: We will continue our unit on Russia. The test for the Russia unit will be on Monday, January 29th.
  • Math: We will take the decimals test Wednesday, January 24th and then begin the next unit that focuses on multiply and dividing decimals.
  • ELA
    • Porto, portatum (L) to carry
    • Derivatives to use:
      • Porter, portable, portage, transport, export, import (BE SURE THEY SEE THE DIFFERENCE FROM LAST WEEK’S PORTA)
    • Novus (L) new
    • Derivatives to use:

    • Ordo, ordinis (L) row, array, command
    • Derivatives to use:
      • Order, orderly, extraordinary, ordinance
    • Saeculum (L) age, century
    • Derivatives to use:
      • Secular, siècle (French), secule
     The spelling test will be administered on Friday.

  • Literature: We will continue to read Secret Garden this week.
